About Us
Our History
Formally known as Hope Maternity and Nursing Home, Hope Medical Center (HMC) was founded in early 2010 as a local solution to a community need for quality care. The idea of a health centre at the heart of the village was the result of interactions with locals, at the Hope Chemist, who turned to the community pharmacy for answers to health questions they couldn’t answer themselves. This was because there was no reliable clinic in the vicinity of Awasi Township.
With the help of the local Ministry of Health officials, the proprietors of the Community Pharmacy set out to alleviate human suffering in the community. The founders had a vision of establishing a haven for the ill to experience quality dignified care and compassionate service at affordable cost. With time, through hard work and painstaking endeavor, the vision broadened from a mere community nursing home to a fully-fledged facility that is now The Hope Group of Hospitals (Hope Medical Clinic.)

The vision, determination and selfless concern for the well-being of the community that characterized the nursing home’s beginnings still drive the hospital today.

			The Progress We’ve Made
Today, Hope Medical Centre is a multi-specialty hospital covering every segment. We are now one of the most respected and established institutions in the region providing professional medical, nursing and rehabilitative care. The focus has and always remains patient-centered care driven by the values of the Social Service League.
From a trickle of just 2-5 out patients per week in 2010 to over 1500 patients in one week the year 2020, HMC has built a reputation for efficiency with empathy as word of our touch of love continues to spread across the region. Our 48-bed in-patient wards see an average of 200 – 300 patients every moth. This growth has been reflected in the regional reach as well. At the onset of our community service, we served the villages around Awasi Market. This changed through the years to see an influx from the counties within the lake basin including Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Bomet and Kericho.
